The summers of Chennai are infamous and this year it was taking its toll on all our bodies and minds. Now suddenly there is rain. The sky is gargling with noisy thunders. I am here next to my lappie..Listening to songs and the thunders..The sound of rain fall is playing background to “Woh Chali Woh Chali..”
Heaven on earth!
I always write rain posts. Somehow rain seems to bring in a fresh whiff of writing bug in me. There was first the smell of first rain on earth and that is maddeningly exotic. Then it is down to the regular pitter patter. My neighbour called in to check if I am scared. Somehow I am not. Instead I am writing rain posts like I used to in Pune..
Pune rains used to be more noisy and more like a father’s scolding.. surrounded with slaps, claps and steady list of reasons “why you should not be so careless”… Then it leaves you on your own where you dont know if the anger remains or not..if you can open your room door so fiercely slammed by Dad… You open and see him still glaring at you.. scolding still the steam runs out..
Chennai rains are motherly at its fiercest. They come steadily. First with a force of anger that is so characteristically of mom, who screams at you for coming home late. Then there is a sulking mumbling intermittent with occasional loud reprimand..till slowly the mumbling also becomes muted and there is just fresh air and her love…
Anyway.. It is rain..
“I’m singing in the rain, just singing in the rain; What a wonderful feeling, I’m happy again.”
There is dairymilk in hand.. There is media player on the system and there is the music of Gods outside…
Hmmm… Ciao frenz..more sensible posts will follow…
Have you got wet in the rain ever? Walked through the downpour without searching for a cover to hide under? Have you ever felt one with the raindrop that fell on you? Have you hummed that favorite rain song as the drops hit you? What could get better than a walk in the rain and a hot tea to follow?
Answer: Bhajji, Pakoda and Chai
Monsoons are back in Chennai!
Literally and figuratively…
I am enjoying the rain.. Missing the tea and bajji ritual ..But as it is the mood is elation..
The rain makes you wanna curl up and listen to songs, all romantic and happy
The rain makes you wanna finish up all books you ever meant to without taking your eyes off for any thing else
The rain makes you wanna sing and dance without a care
I am feeling good.. Dont make me study ..PLEASE..
Rains are here..The season which makes my heart warm..The season I crave for bajjis..The season my heart goes Hmmm…..The time when I am crazier than usual…
I want to walk alone in rain for long distance.. Singing in the rain..Dancing in the rain..The problem as alwez is time..and I will find time..
The best gift someone can give me now is a bowl of maggi and a book on an ease chair…and tea at regular intervals..Hmmmm
P.S. Sorry cant resist from a rain post…time and again…
Monsoon has started in Pune…
After the first childish wish to float paper boats and to walk in the rain, the next nice thing i can think is bhajji, pakoda and chai..
Since my earliest memories, whenever it rained, I used to sit near the grilled gate of my house and my paati(grand ma) used to give “suda suda bhajji and pakoda”. It was heavenly, to eat it and watch the rain with the radio or tv songs in the background..Then as I grew up, I added the joy of tea with the menu, and life was never better.. Paati used to keep filling my plate and I used to eat countless onion and potato bhajjis.
Well..but that was Chennai..Rain was hard to come but bhajjis were easier to get…Here in pune, I am yet to taste authentic bhajji and pakoda.. and I cant make bhajji at home… Yet there is so much rain and the monsoon is going waste…
For now, I will have to make do with Maggi
But do any of you in pune make good bhajjis???
i was always fascinated by water……….being from chennai—that shud be no surprise but i had an extra factor of luv for it as it was a unique element compositely opposite to my nature i am a fire person of fire brand from a fire sign-Aries ,but water is something that attracts me as in “opposites attract” and in pune this attraction and yearning for water and rain is fulfilled ……………this rain in pune…………is the best .
