There was this felicitation of Guitarist and Composer – Prasanna, who is also a distinguished alumnus of IIT Madras, an engineer in ocean engg. and naval architecture, who chose his dreams over the regular rut and has achieved commendable success, which I just attended. For your recall, he was the composer for “Smile Pinki“, the Oscar winning documentary and that was the occasion for the felicitation by the IIT Madras Alumni Association.
Though I began as if I am here to write about Prasanna, the point is not Prasanna but the Prasannas of the world.
Working in shifts is quite a new experience for me…I have always been a “Day bird”, studying in day and watching television till 8 :00 pm, then sleeping was my routine, till my college days .Even during crucial exams, I have stayed awake through the night only 5 to 6 times, all my life. So ,coming to pune and becoming a “Night Owl” was new, if not difficult for me.
And even here, I used to wake up at night to talk or to go out with friends to a movie….
I was so frustrated ystrday about having to go to pune in short notice …now u know wat i am actually leaving 4 pune….ok so god b with me… u know this whole thing is going crazy and ulta phulta…there is so much to do.. kinda feeling gud.. kinda feeling bad.. times r changing and clock is ticking so soon…hopefully things shud go on well out there..Job means new responsibilities…so how wil it change me? let’s see..

Imagine my situation… i got placed in this company in pune last september and yeah i have been eager to join it … and now they call me today morning and ask me to join on 3rd that is three days thats all..
I have actually refused this and asked to be postponed to later batch..but i wonder if this is a career wise smart move?!
i had thought it is virtually impossible to get ready in two days but two of my colleagues and college mates have got ready and they are flying off on thursday I dunno wy i did this but lets c this was the best i cud
ok but come to think of this … how can they invite anyone to join in two days notice…
i hope this doesnt affect anything….lets c..
i jus dunno wy i did it but yeah i did it..I attended the verizon off campus interview… If any of u wanna know wat third degree torture is , this is it people . had to stand in sun for about two hours and then u enter the college campus…. then u get a form which u hafta fill while managing to be in the queue which is constantly moving and then u meet one of those “smart” HRs who r supposed 2 b paid for handling people and they kick about their would-be employees like they were dogs , shouting commands like”stand here” make a queue there”etc.. then we get to the registration desk and atlast u r about to enter the hall-u think… but they say “no … last batch is jus over good bye thank u”and they get off with all this because they r the controllers of the largest job market-the IT industry..
wat really hit the nail in my head was an auto driver’s comment as he passed us on the road…”indha pozhappukku autove ottalam”( translates obscurely as better drive auto than this kinda living)so thats the day’s issue- is going to every interview especially walk-ins like this one worth it? considering the fact that the situation is worse once u get the job……I wonder…..
